The Ruhr University Bochum is one of the leading research universities. The university draws its strengths from both the diversity and the proximity of scientific and engineering disciplines on a single, coherent campus. This highly dynamic setting enables students and researchers to work across traditional boundaries of academic subjects and faculties.
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position (m/f/d), which is available immediately or upon mutual agreement. The goal of the project is to unravel the molecular mechanism of ABC transporters. The successful candidate has a keen interest in biomolecular simulation and in interdisciplinary collaborative research and has a strong background in theoretical chemistry, (bio-)physics, computational structural biology, and scientific computing.
The contract is fixed term. Initial appointment is for 2.5 years. Consideration of candidates (m/f/d) will begin immediately.
If the position is funded by third-party funds the employee has no teaching obligation.
The Center for Theoretical Chemistry at Ruhr University Bochum (RUB) offers an exciting interdisciplinary research environment and excellent facilities including several in-house high-performance computing platforms. RUB is one of Germany's leading universities. All important fields of research are located at one campus. The togetherness of different disciplines and their cultures offers excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations for researchers and students. Bochum offers affordable prices for housing and a broad cultural program.
Candidates (m/f/d) (m/f/d) should have significant experience in molecular dynamics simulations of biomolecular systems and hold a PhD in theoretical/computational chemistry or (bio-)physics (or a closely related field). The group language is English, so no German language skills are required, but it’s a great opportunity for you to learn German.
